Heltec Mesh Node T114 with Display is just what I needed to get me started with Meshtastic. I regret skipping the kit that includes a battery. It would be nice if it came with a pigtail for the battery and solar connectors. I ordered a Molex Picoblade pigtail, we'll see if it is a match.

What would make it perfect would be to make use of the rotary dial + holding a side button down, to enable selection of canned messages.

Great device and works very well, was packaged well and arrived complete and fairly fast considering I live in NZ. The product stands out and is well made, easy to operate and was up and running within minutes. Highly recommend the product.

Bought not knowing if anyone was in my city. Turns out, no one is. Time to get a few more to set up the mesh. Waiting until I'm in the big city to see how this all works.

Bought the r1 with a clip. Clip in my pocket and forget about it for a week before I need to charge it.

This is a nice Meshtastic device. It has very good battery life and gets out quite well. I'm using it with the IOS app, which is a bit quirky, when it set up the default channel, it did not give it a name. Once I named it to match the public channel being used in our area, it started working as expected. Initially, the device received lots of nodes, but I wasn't able to send/receive messages. With the correct channel name, everything began functioning normally. The R1 itself is solid and I like it. I can't locate the Reset button, but it's easy to use the software to put the device in boot loader mode for firmware updating. In all, I give it a top rating!

Everyone starts with a Heltec v3, but this is the absolute next step (and possibly even final step) for the perfect every day Meshtastic carry. Small, lightweight, gps, good battery life, easy to flash, you name it. I take this thing with me everywhere and I've been loving it. The signal isn't as good as a dedicated whip antenna but still more than adequate for every day mesh usage.
