I really like it. The H1 is a beast to put it mildly. Yes the meshtastic app is not really aware of local regulation (the default exceeds swiss regulatory limits of radiation by 180% with the 1.5SWR whip antenna), but even with proper configuration it still has a nice range and in case of a internet / carrier network, you can run it at its real ability to get some serious range (there are a few nodes in switzerland that are clearly not configured correctly given the 3 hop range I can get which should be around 35-40km, not >100km) which only shows how great this device and antenna are.
With the Meshtastic app had the device up and running in about 30 seconds.
The design and arrangement of parts within inside the device was highly thought out and very methodical. There is a high degree of attention to detail.
These work great. Can’t review the antenna because I bought the longer antenna at the start. Fun stuff! Solid quality.
For those of us not ready to DIY a device, or in a hurry to get started, the HI is perfect. Great build quality, easy to use, easy to pair with phone using meshtastic, and easy to add bigger antenna for more range if need be.
Be careful though, at first your just buying a handheld device, next thing you know your building solar powered nodes to mount in high locations across town...
