The R1 with integrated antenna is perfect as a secondary device that slips into your pocket. The range is naturally shorter than devices with an external antenna, but this can reach plenty far for many usecases. It works really well if you are in a group hiking or traveling without cell service, or if you put a node with a good antenna as a base at home for your main connection to the broader mesh. The only thing missing is maybe a GPS module so it doesn’t have to rely on the paired phone for location’s, but that would come at the expense of size and battery life (which is tremendous). The case is really well designed and feels good to hold, seems durable.
Liked it so much that I made another purchase from muzi. Best part is the battery last forever and it disappears in a shirt pocket.

I’ve been using the larger antenna R1 for a bit now, but got concerned that I might damage the antenna by carrying it in my thigh pocket. Never had an issue, but was concerned.
I ordered two of the internal antenna models and they are very comparable to the longer antenna versions. These drop very easily into my pocket and disappear. Great Meshtastic Nodes and truly an eye catcher when I talk about them.
Both versions of the Muzi.Works “R1” are highly recommended.
Received 5 days ago, one charge then on h24 all good 72% remains today in client mute, did put a rope for a necklace and wearing it everyday under shirt nice and discrete piece of hardware, very happy it is a pro package
