As you might expect the range is not quite as good as something with an external antenna but I have been very impressed with this device and usually chose it as the node I take with me on an given day.

After using the R1 for two weeks, I’m thrilled to share my experience. I wanted to take the time to familiarize myself with the device before reviewing it, and I’m glad I did. Here are my thoughts:
The R1 has excellent build quality, and the pre-configured internal radio allowed for immediate use out of the box. I paired the R1 with a [Seeed Studio SenseCAP Card Tracker T1000-E], and the devices work seamlessly together for messaging. In an urban environment, I've achieved 2-4 km of coverage and happily found 10 nearby devices for meshing, which extended connectivity further. I plan to add a secondary Meshtastic device in my rafters or on the roof to improve home connectivity further. I look forward to testing the R1 on my next hiking trip. Also thanks Muzi Works for minimal plastic waste in the packaging, it made for a premium unboxing experience.

Thee R1 unit is a rugged unit with outstanding performance and low power usage, I am using it in the mountains of west North Carolina with great results.
I am using a solar charger with it, I recommend keeping the unit warm in sub freezing weather.

Easy to use and understand. Attached antenna yielded a 1.23 SWR. Easy to carry in my pocket. May get another one.

Handy device I can carry with me all the time, yet still decent radio transmission power to reach with fellow Meshers :). Some imperfections on the case, but that's what made it a 3D printed gadget, not one of those from the factory. Did I mention I love the design? :)

I have used the node a couple of times now, either clipped on my pack or sitting in the car as a relay and it works great, appears to be very sensitive and the battery lasts forever.

While I have paired it with a T1000-E so far I think I’ll have to get an R1 with internal antenna as my next order.

Very happy with the build quality.

This is my favorite Meshtastic case. I like that it’s simple, functional and compact. Fits nicely in my hand and clean hanging off a backpack.

I replaced the stubby antenna that came with the T114, swapping it with one of the LILYGO’s that came with my T-Beams. I can rotate it enough to enable my to set the device on its side and position the antenna to stick out the side (top).

The H2T is such a well designed pocket radio. Seems very solid, and a great print. Just the right size for an everyday carry, and the black/coyote colour looks sharp. The whip has picked up nodes 45k out in my area, and that's a big city... pretty cool.

Battery has been great with the H114-- about 3 days with GPS always on and bluetooth always connected to my phone.

As a first device, had I chosen something else that was shoddily built or full of problems I probably would be less excited about Meshtastic-- but this just works and I've been able to explore all the fun parts of this niche world, and now I'm inspired to make a few of my own nodes.

If you folks made a fully waterproof / very water resistant node with a bigger battery, I would be very interested as a small base node for camping trips. Yes there are other designs / build kits out there but I like your style.

My H2T arrived in the UK very quickly and well packed. The case is top quality and smart. Thanks to the whip antenna the node was able to pick up GPS satellites within 5 minutes: no mean feat considering the device was indoors. I haven't tried it outdoors yet but I'm confident of good performance. Performance overall is really good. All in all I'd be happy to recommend this device.

The R1 is built very well and solid. This will be great at music festivals.
