Renaming a Meshtastic device

1. Open the Meshtastic app on your phone.
   
2. Select the “Settings” tab.
   
   
3. Go to “User” under "Device Configuration".
   
   
4. You’ll see two name fields:
   
   • Long Name – [your full device name]
   • Short Name – [abbreviated 4 character name]
   
   
5. Tap on the name you want to change and enter your new name.
   
   
6. When prompted, tap "Save User Config" to confirm.
   
7. Your device will save the changes you just made and reboot. Wait for 5–10 seconds. Once the device reboots, it will automatically reconnect via Bluetooth to your phone app, ready for you to continue meshing.

What happens after renaming?

1. Upon rebooting, your device will start broadcasting its new name.
2. Other devices on the mesh network will pick up the new name as they receive the broadcast.
